The IFIP ensures a permanent support to the regional engineering teams, including producer groups and Chambers of Agriculture. 600 technicians participate annually to IFIPs trainings.

In collaboration with INRA, IFIP organize an annual conference, the Days of Swine Research, which presents the latest results of its work and the results of research in French-speaking countries (Canada, Belgium, Switzerland in particular). Journals and technical brochures complement the device dissemination of information to the industry.

IFIP, through a Scientific Interest Group (SIG) linking development agencies, research and business, implement a program of research and development that addresses:

  • the need to maintain the high level of technical and economic competitiveness of the sector;
  • to respect the choices of society in terms of food security and diversification of production, protection of the environment, animal welfare, ...

Skills and activities are organized around four technical areas:

  • genetic and health improvement;
  • breeding techniques: housing, food, environment, animal welfare, production alternatives;
  • economy of markets and sectors, production economics;
  • technological and hygienic meat quality, food safety, grading carcasses.
