API SensorThings

API SensorThings

Use an API compliant with the SensorThings standard to make animal housing measurements interoperable

The accessibility of data in order to facilitate their valorisation and diversify their uses is now an issue associated with their production. Various concepts and tools make it possible to make data interoperable. In the case of livestock housing, the data can be of very different natures: air, manure or animal temperature; ventilation rate; gas concentrations; animal number; animal categories; animal weights; feed, water or energy consumption. To facilitate the implementation of the interoperability concept for these data we are developing an example of application of an API (Application Programming Interface) compliant with the SensorThings standard. The step-by-step approach adopted is intended for teachers, researchers and students interested in this concept. We wish to accelerate the development of services and applications using interoperable data, for the benefit of the actors involved in the improvement of the animal production chains.

This example uses concepts (APIs, SensorThings, etc.) described in other resources, here are a few references among many others:

For computer scientists, the API used here is available at: https://github.com/Mario-35/api-sensorthing
